Jason Aguilar
agd 2020 imaging 1
This 2000-level course focuses on raster image manipulation. This “biomechanical” project requires students to combine at least one natural/organic image with one inorganic/man-made image. Jason worked with some creative commons-licensed images plus a few of his own travel photos. He unified the images with an engraving illustration effect.

agd 3020 imaging 2
AGD 3020 is a digital studio photography class with artificial light—both continuous and strobe. Some projects involve a graphic design step after the custom photography, as is the case with this magazine cover. I provide the nameplate and the barcode. Concept, photography, copywriting, and layout are all created by the students.

Karen Britton
art 3850 special topics: experiential typography
This class was a request by multiple students so I added it as an upper-level studio elective. The course takes the teaching covered in the first two typography courses and then adds complex projects that push for unique solutions. Here, the students were to research and choose ten typeface designers—current or past—and create a mobile app as a reference source for some of their favorite designs.

graphic design workshop
Graphic Design Workshop has real-world projects for area non-profit organizations, and team projects for the seniors.
DeeOnna created this logo design and initiated packaging designs for Farrell Farms. She went with a parody of the famous 1930 American Gothic painting by Grant Wood.
Farrell Farms is a non-profit business that produces delicious traditional North Carolina snacks in a NC Department of Agriculture inspected kitchen located in Goldsboro, NC. One-hundred percent of the profit from the sales is used to help abandoned and orphaned children. All of the employees are volunteers.
